Summer ^..^ Tea party!

Sunny star summer wishes! Here are some more pottery pieces I have been working on. Making pottery is  teaching me patience and bringing me so much joy.

Tea set with a strawberry rainbow theme + Japanese concept of "ichi-go ichi-e" reminding us to treasure every (tea) meeting since each is unique.

 Chai and green tea tumblers.

Various bowls and a HI-C lemon saver (the perfect place to keep half a lemon).

Bellevue Children's Clinic interior illustration project

It has been an amazing experience to work on this project with the NBBJ architects team and the Children's design team this spring and summer. I loved the challenge of coming up with a concept that effectively communicates the essence of Children's brand message, and makes sense of the way the clinic is organized: there are 6 color coded hallways for patients, 4 staff areas with huge glass walls, "sibling playroom" and the "surgery portal" upstairs. All the work has been inspired by Northwest flora and fauna to make it more meaningful and welcoming for staff and families that use these facilities.

Here are some more photo samples (the really nice, professional shots are by Benjamin Benschneider):

Happy Holidays 2010!

May all the creative powers of our world continue to delight you in the upcoming year and happily ever after! This message had been brought to you by these Washington snow kittens (made in Ronald, WA).

Hand built pottery bowl and sake set

I have been taking a hand building pottery class this fall. Here are some of the most recent fruits of my joyful labor. At this stage they are still green (not bisqued or fired in the kiln yet). Looking forward to finding out what it will look like after the process will have been completed. The title of this bowl is: Shortcake ^..^

This is a hand built, fig shaped sake set. The biggest one is the sake flask (tokkuri) representing the sake brew master (Toji), the small ones are the cups (chocko) representing the 4 ingredients of the sake making process: rice, water, yeast and koji mold culture. "Let's brew!"
